On February 28th last year, James and Sally Reeder thought about skipping their routine work-out at Mercy Fitness Center. It was a cold night and they had just finished eating a meal out. Knowing the benefits of exercise and how easy it is to get out of the habit, they decided to forge ahead and head to the fitness center.
Bill Senneff, Chief Operating Officer of St. Edward Mercy, had just finished his work-out at Mercy Fitness that evening when he was alerted that a patron had collapsed on the fitness center floor. He and Steve Horton, Section Manager of Mercy Fitness, rushed to James' side and immediately began CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

James was admitted to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center where it was determined that he had not had a heart attack but rather that blockage had caused his heart to stop. He underwent double bypass surgery and spent a total of 12 days at St. Edward Mercy.
Doctors told James that he was fortunate to have had quick access to medical care when his episode occurred. Had the Reeders skipped their work-out, the outcome might have been different. James and Sally praise the doctors and nurses for the care they received during their stay at St. Edward Mercy.
